It looks like fans attending Electric Forest this June are in for a special treat. For the first time since the opening of the Double JJ Ranch as a festival site, the infamous Sherwood Forest will be expanding in size! In honor of the upgrade, the festival has invited artists from all over the globe to participate in the Electric Forest 2013 ‘Plug In’ Program. The program gives participants the chance to have their proposed art installation sponsored and showcased by the festival. Planning on only granting one winner, the support for the program was evidently overwhelming leaving the Plug In team with the chance to select a few more winners. Beginning with The Cerebrum of Sherwood Forest, the first selection, the team will now select 3 new installations to join the Cerebrum creation which is the brainchild of Imago Collective.
Today we are excited to announce the second winner to become sponsored. The Electric Garden installation spawned from the unique and creatively charged minds of Laura Edelman and Dave Sumberg or otherwise known as Das’LaLa. The installation is “an interactive, electronic, touch-sensitive garden that glows brightly upon human touch”. Described as an electroluminescent field, The Electric Garden is guaranteed to be the perfect addition to The Sherwood Forest. We are super stoked to see what the rest of the winners have in store for us.
Electric Forest 2013 is taking place in Rothbury, Michigan from June 27th-30th. To learn more about the Plug In program click here. Tickets are on sale now and moving swiftly. For more information and for the full music lineup check out our link here! We hope to see you in the Forest!!

It’s hard to bring up electronic music without eventually coming to the name Carnage. The founding father and organic branding genius behind his hit remix series of “Festival Trap” bangers, Carnage is also the man behind the hits that can be found on basically every performing dj’s setlist. Recognized by his fans as an artist who is not afraid to express his creative feelings through not only his music but his social media pages, Carnage has spoken out on issues like producers buying into “hype” to become more relevant and the pressures that genres can put on a producer’s arsenal of tunes. Saying what most in the scene are afraid to say, Carnage is here to stir up the pot.
Even if he were to never speak another word though, Carnage’s tunes speak for themselves. Carnage has a very unique way of getting any environment turned into a massive party. His high-energy packed sets rival Tiesto and SHM as far as giving the audience that… feeling. A producer and performer of just about everything, Carnage has deserving collaborations with artists like A$AP Rocky, Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka Flame, Borgore, and the great Kaskade. There isn’t much Carnage hasn’t touched and those left undisturbed will only rest for so long until Carnage comes to bring the rage.
Carnage kicked off his “I’m Fucking Pumped” Tour last week with a special performance in Detroit and will continue on to perform on dozens of stops across the globe including dates in USA, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Amsterdam, as well as announced festival appearances at Spring Awakening Music Festival, Sunset Music Festival, and EDC Vegas. With tons of new music coming soon, Carnage is proud to be releasing his upcoming single entitled “Signal” TOMORROW, May 3rd on Spinnin’ Records.
We were fortunate enough to be able to take the time to chat and catch up with Carnage the other day and we wanted to let you all in on our conversation. Check our our exclusive Q&A with Carnage below and make sure to catch Carnage when he comes to a venue near you! LISTEN & DOWNLOAD CURATED MUSIC EXCLUSIVE Q&A WITH CARNAGE ON SOUNDCLOUD:
Like we expected, Ultra Music Festival wouldn’t be able to go the Summer without making yet another splash in what is already a super successful year for the massive festival brand. Yesterday, the Ultra Music Festival Facebook page posted a picture of a countdown clock accompanied by only the image above reading “Tick Tock Tick Tock…” and the text “Thursday May 2 // 1pm EST”. Keeping their plans wrapped as tight as Fort Knox, we are able to speculate on a few different possible announcements.
First & least exciting of our theories, there is a chance that Ultra Music Festival will be announcing a date for 2014 ticket sales. Last year, we witnessed UMF 2013 begin campaigning as early as May with street teamers passing out “teaser” flyers. We wouldn’t be surprised if they ignore the 11 months in between their event and begin promoting like it is happening next week.
Another outcome could be a possible venue change. With problems at Bayfront Park between the city, citizens, committees and so on, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to hear that Ultra Music Festival 2014 will play host to a new home. In either case, we think you can count on UMF keeping the festival in Miami.
NOW, the biggest stretch out of all of our theories… Daft Punk. With 2013 presenting one of the largest electronic lineups ever of any music festival, UMF 2014 has to pull out some big explosions to top the following years. Not only would this be the perfect time for Daft Punk to announce the performance, but this would make a ton of sense seeing as Daft Punk’s album, Random Access Memories, will drop on May 21st. Just a tad bit too late for any rumored 2013 appearance, but perfect for an early Spring 2014 headline takeover. Last month, Ultra Music Festival tweeted a slight hint (SEE BELOW) at hosting Daft Punk at the 2014 fest, but then again, so has basically every other festival under the sun.
At least we don’t have to wait too long to find out what is behind these teaser posts from America’s largest dance music festival. Stay tuned to Ultra Music Festival’s social media pages tomorrow, Thursday, May 2nd, at 1pm EST and keep posted to Curated Music for all of your festival news!
