NEW MIX: Marcutio – ‘Always Waking Up’ (April Mix) [FREE Download]

Always Waking Up (April) is the new mixtape just dropped from Michigan’s very own Marcutio. This half hour long mix is filled with spacey beats, glitch and addicting vocals that will make you drift away in just the first eight counts. Two unreleased songs are featured in this mix as well to give you a sneak peek of what Marcutio has been working on. The mix can be streamed and downloaded for free on Marcutio’s Soundcloud.

CONTEST: East Lansing’s First Outdoor Electronic Music Festival Brings KASKADE To AG Expo Field On April 19th (WIN FREE TICKETS)

Next week, East Lansing, Michigan will become one big party. It isn’t March Madness and it isn’t Spring Break, but it’s much larger than that: it’s global electronic dance music sensation Kaskade, and he is ready to take the Michigan State University town and own it. It is about time that the beautifully progressive electronic listening community of East Lansing got an event of this caliber. The event, produced by RECESS, will feature local support from Project K and will showcase way more than just dank music with “a progressive speaker series featuring leading entrepreneurs discussing a variety of topics including innovation, startups, personal branding, and career obstacles.” There will also be a career fair running in line with the speaker series all put together by Intern Sushi. Tickets are still available online. We hope to see you there!

NEW MIX: Marcutio – ‘AlwaysWakingUp (March)’ [40-Min Mix - FREE Download]

I have been listening to fellow Michigander Marcutio’s Soundcloudfondly lately and I must say I am quite impressed with his latest “Always Waking Up” mix. I can describe the 41 minute jar of kushsauce as modern, exciting, unique and dirty yet classy at the same time. I could throw on this mix for occasions ranging from an old fashioned smoke sesh at the crib, to going hard at the gym, to getting weird.

Although several artists have been remixing/sampling Kendrick Lamar’s Swimming Pools, Marcutio’s hyphy interpretation of the popular song as the second facet of the mix is executed quite tastefully He continues with Ill Esha’s “Foreign Emotions“ and from there on out the mix stays pretty ill when its not being trippy. With a stack featuring Marcutio originals as well as snippets from artists featuring Modeselektor and closing with a Marcutio remix of Freddy Todd & Black Mic’s Dopesauce I must say I have mad respect for this mix. Plus, it is still available for free download!. If you like what you hear, I encourage you to check out Marcutio’s Honey EP available for listen or download on Bandcamp.

NEW TUNE: GeoVybe – “Gyrodope Latte” (FREE Download)

There must be something in the water in East Lansing, Michigan. It seems that the city plays host to a slew of talented up-and-coming bass producers. One of our favorites, and part of the Curated Music family is GeoVybe. The young producer (and half of Ternidup) has been working non-stop on his productions and the results are showing in his latest tune entitled “Gyrodope Latte“. Featuring a gangster beat, GeoVybe combines the best elements of lazer-bass, glitch-hop, and trap, into this extra hard track. Following his Vybrational Geometry EP, also released for free download, this tune must be heard! We are super excited to bring you more tunes from the young producer as we watch his talents and name grow until GeoVybe is at the top. Cheers!

NEW TUNE: BeatLoaf – “Press That” (FREE Download)

BeatLoaf is brightening up our Monday with a nice new tune entitled “Press That“. Giving off a very international vibe, the tune makes us feel like we are somewhere in France chilling on a yacht with a bunch of fancy food and gorgeous women. The creepy tech track or self described as “nursery grime” beat is available for FREE download from BeatLoaf’s Soundcloud and is just the beginning of releases in 2013 from the Detroit based producer. SHOW & CONTEST ANNOUNCEMENT: January 31st – GRiZ in Grand Rapids, MI at The Intersection

Curated Music is excited to announce that GRiZ will be returning to his home state of Michigan for a very special night in Grand Rapids at The Intersection! Curated Music is co-presenting the night with The Intersection and we have some special treats in store for you. Throughout the next couple weeks, you can find our Detroit street team passing out flyers and spreading the word that Jan. 31st, you need to be at The Intersection for GRiZ. We will also be running a couple contests to hook up some lucky fans with some tickets to the show and maybe even some GRiZ swag. We are already counting down the minutes until GRiZ takes the stage in Grand Rapids. If you’ve never witnessed GRiZ perform, this show will blow you away. NEW RELEASE: GeoVybe – “Vybrational Geometry” EP (4-Track FREE Download)

Hailing from Northern Michigan and residing in the thriving electronic music scene of East Lansing, Michigan, GeoVybe, half of the duo Ternidup, has released his first solo work, “Vybrational Geometry” EP. GeoVybe has put a ton of love and fine-tuning into this 4-track EP. Featuring the single, a remix of Jurassic 5 “Whats Golden”, the EP is a combination of glitch grime and beautiful synth bass music (do you follow LOL, just listen!). With plans to follow up this release with a plethora of new tunes, GeoVybe is exploring and innovating the glitch hop genre and working on taking his sounds to the next level. Between the GeoVybe and Ternidup projects, this young producer is staying busy in the studio, logging countless hours a day. We are excited to see what’s in store for this up and coming badman! ENJOY!
