NEW TUNE: MuzzY – “Italian Ratchet Funk” (Free Download)

artworks-000048213082-30k71f-t500x500There seems to be another young and aspiring producer/dj hailing from Michigan who seems to be just about everywhere right now and that man is Dan Hacker or better known to his loyal growing fanbase as MuzzY. Staying on his grind 24/7, MuzzY is determined to manipulate his sounds in ways that will get listeners all around the globe instantly addicted. It seems as though MuzzY is set on creating tunes that are unique & far from being able to categorize or group into just one genre. The true music fan in MuzzY shows through his diverse and increasingly eloquent catalog of beats. Performing live as ‘MuzzY’ or alongside GRiZ (as live/production guitarist), the talented instrumentalist is on the brink of some big things. You can expect to see this guy on a stage near you.

This past week, MuzzY released his latest tune entitled “Italian Ratchet Funk“. The newest edition to his acclaimed ‘Ratchet Funk’ series/style, this trill tune takes us on a ride through a 1920′s speak easy and into the seat of a bumping poker game filled with gold, liquor, cash, drugs, and women. Made for the big speakers, “Italian Ratchet Funk” has that extra bump to get you through your week. We could see this track filling that “epic trap break” in any dj’s set list and we predict that this will be the case. On top of all of this, you can grab MuzzY’s “Italian Ratchet Funk” now for FREE download. Make sure you grab yours and let the man know what you think!

FESTY NEWS: Curated Music Goes To Colorado: Snowball Music Festival 2013 Review and Photo Album

snowball-2013Colorado, you never cease to amaze! Even with freezing winds and icy grounds, your fans and music ALWAYS bring the heat! Snowball 2013 was no exception and took it to the next level as nearly 11,000 fans came out to show their love and support. Coming from all corners of Colorado and across the US, nothing could slow down the energy and vibes that were brought into Winter Park last weekend.

Snowball attendees were not scared away by the frigid temperatures, which dropped to single digits Saturday night, but made the festival that much more unique with outrageous winter outfits, costumes, rage sticks, hats and more. The iced frozen grounds made it extremely difficult to get around at times, but everyone seemed to help out a neighbor in need of a little support. The various vendors and local artists brought an extra blast of flavor that showed the creativity and artistic culture that surrounds the Colorado festival scene.

With the new location, came a new attitude. The laidback locals of Winter Park welcomed in the Snowballers and their business with open arms. The Festival grounds, which consisted of 3 stages, offered a variety of music all times of the day. All stages were in close proximity to each other making it super easy to move from one show to the next. The Groove Tent and Ballroom were each covered and offered a brief shelter from the cold. The Main Stage collaborated with the visions of every artist, making each performance one of a kind and truly come to life.

The first day of music raised the bar for the weekend with Robotic Pirate Monkey, The Floozies, Porter Robinson, Kendrick Lamar, American Royalty and Zion I (just to name a few) stealing the shows for the day. Closing out the night was Big Gigantic who truly did it BIG with a massive fireworks display that left the crowds ready for Day 2.

Day 2 was the most frigid of all but the party kept going with amazing performances by Luminox, Gigamesh, Run DMT, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinasaurs, Polica, Portugal the Man, and Datsik. Closing the night out was Colorado native, Pretty Lights, whose laser light show and stunning fireworks truly came to life and got the crowd extra rowdy.

Day 3 was filled with Colorado sunshine that raised the crowds’ energy to a record high. Exceptional performances from K Theory, Michal Menert, Aeroplane, Robert Randolph, Flosstradamus, Grizmatik, Flying Lotus, and Crizzly with Lil Flip made the day a complete success. To close the night, STS9 took Snowballers on a musical journey that put the cherry on top of a spectacular weekend.

But the party didn’t stop when the festival gates shut. Six local bars and venues opened their doors each night offering specials and hosting the after parties late into the evening. Showcasing 18 shows and over 50 artists throughout the weekend, it was difficult to decide which party to attend. Some of the after parties featured snowball artists like Datsik, Michal Menert, Griz, Twiddle, Run DMT, Robotic Pirate Monkey, Orchard Lounge and many more.

All in all, Snowball 2013 lived up to the hype. Bridging the gap of the long awaited summer festivals, Snowball was the perfect way to get out that pent up excitement and kick off festy season right! So make sure not to miss Snowball 2014, it is expected to be another year of impressive music and Colorado lovin!

With only a few short days until Snowball 2013 we prepare for what is sure to be an outstanding three days of music amongst the beauty of the rocky mountains!

This year marks the 3rd Annual Snowball Music Festival. With its first kick off in 2011, Snowball Music Festival was held in Vail Valley Colorado and brought in huge headliners (Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, The Flaming Lips, Lotus) and a slew of other amazing talent that made the festival a success. Creating a massive following, Snowball returned in 2012 with another face melting lineup (Rusko, Major Lazer, Bassnectar, Mimosa) that left the crowds begging for more.

Back by popular demand is Snowball Music Festival 2013! This years Snowball will be held March 8-10th in a new location, Winter Park, Co. Although the lay of the land may be different, the Snowball experience will be just as accommodating as previous years. The grounds will include three stages: the Main Stage, The Groove Tent, and The Ballroom. Friday and Saturday music will go until 2am and Sunday until 1am. On site there will be a heat lounge and bar, silent disco, artist vendors & merch, big air ramp and food trucks. And to keep your travels safe, there will be a shuttle service going in and out of the festival grounds.

But lets talk about what really important… this year’s lineup! With so much amazing talent on the bill, Snowball 2013 is looking like it will be the best yet! A few headliners include: Pretty Lights, STS9, Big Gigantic, Kendrick Lamer, Porter Robinson, Grizmatik, Flying Lotus and SO MUCH MORE! To keep you kids on your toes and get you even more excited for the weekend ahead, we took some time to catch up with some of the artists on this year’s lineup, K Theory and Robotic Pirate Monkey, to see what they’ve got in store for us!

196260_434323279974258_54205949_nK Theory, based out of San Francisco, consists of two musical maestros constructing melodic electronic productions with shattering bass lines, and a broken beat technique that has stamped their original sound. K Theory has been highly acclaimed through Beatport, Hype Machine, ThisSongIsSick, and Earmilk. It is impossible to ignore this duo as their momentum heaves them into the music community spotlight. K Theory has been spending endless time in the studio preparing for the busy months ahead. “We will be playing 23 shows before June”. Making their way to Snowball for the first time this year, K Theory plans to roll through in style, “We have a Nintendo 3DS with Zelda in it, a giant bag of gummy bears and 16 bottles of Martinellis.” Dylan of K Theory explains what is in the essential K Theory camping pack. “Oh and an inhaler of Albuterol and Benedryl”. Not only will they be enjoying their RV lifestyle but also soaking up the culture surrounding the festival scene “you see the unique crowds you who draw different angles” says Dylan, “Snowball brings in all kinds of people like indie, rocks bands and rappers. It’s a multi-genre festival” With such a unique musical collaboration we are sure to be wowed by what they have in store, “We may be bringing a special guest with us. I cant say who it is”. So whats next for K THEORY? “We are taking over the world.” Be sure you catch K Theory at Snowball this Sunday in the Groove Tent from 1:15pm – 2:15pm.

205845_528373943862477_1552574919_nAnother artist not to be missed at this years Snowball is home-turf producers Robotic Pirate Monkey. The group consists of Andrew Hathaway, Matt Berryhill, and Matt Flesher. Their unique fusion of ruthless electronic beats and manipulating samples has given this trio a highly reputable name. Their music has placed RPM in a spotlight among some of the greats in the Colorado music scene, and we are sure to be surprised by what they have in store for us this weekend, “We have committed a new way of making music”, Matt explains, “We are really excited to come out with new stuff, but we are anxious because it is more complex, so more can go wrong when we play it.” Spending most of their days in the studios, RPM is ready to come out this Snowball and bring the heat, “We have totally redesigned the new set, and our new EP will also be released for download on Saturday, so it’s a big weekend for us.” How does RPM plan on staying warm for the weekend? “Lots of beer”. So what’s next for RPM? “First national tour”, producing a hip-hop mixtape, and creating a bunch of RPM products and apparel. Make sure you check out Robotic Pirate Monkey this Friday in the Groove Tent from 3:15- 4:15pm.

Turned off by what producers are doing to the trap music the youngster had grown up loving, MuzzY set off to create his own unique sound. Today, the aspiring up-and-coming producer introduces his first track from his self described ‘Trill Wave’ style entitled “Stop, Wait, Don’t Go“. The tune features a very psychedelic yet gangster feel while still reeking of sexiness. MuzzY takes us deep into tranquility with this one. artworks-000040651712-i5xyxk-t500x500There must be something in the water in East Lansing, Michigan. It seems that the city plays host to a slew of talented up-and-coming bass producers. One of our favorites, and part of the Curated Music family is GeoVybe. The young producer (and half of Ternidup) has been working non-stop on his productions and the results are showing in his latest tune entitled “Gyrodope Latte“. Featuring a gangster beat, GeoVybe combines the best elements of lazer-bass, glitch-hop, and trap, into this extra hard track.
