FESTY NEWS: Oakaloosa Music Festival Will Bring Girl Talk & Bone Thugs-N-Harmony To Detroit’s Historic Fort Wayne on July 27th (Tickets On Sale Tomorrow)

Well, the cat is out the bag! Oakaloosa Music Festival will be breaking ground on July 27th at it’s new home in the Historic Fort Wayne property in Southwest Detroit. The brand new music festival will feature headliners Girl Talk & Bone Thugs-N-Harmony alongside a slew of amazing support including Trick Trick, Royce Da 5’9, Freddy Todd, and many others. The whole festival is designed as a non-profit philanthropic event with proceeds benefiting the renovation of the Historic Fort Wayne property. We are excited to be co-presenting the festival and will be bringing you news as it unfolds!

Tickets will be available tomorrow April 30th, at 8 a.m.

NEW TUNE: Freddy Todd – “RAW’D” (Till I Die) Feat. Note [Off Upcoming 'Moonflavours' Album Out 4/25]

The world of glitch hop better hold tight to it’s seat because Freddy Todd is about to drop a heater on us. Next week, on April 25th, Freddy will drop the latest addition to his already flexing catalog through the form of a free album entitled Moonflavours. Described as his “more chill release”, Freddy gives us a glimpse of what we can expect with the first single to surface from the release dubbed “RAW’D” (Till I Die) featuring San Diego’s Note. Freddy puts the “hop” back in “glitch-hop” with this one meshing together hip-hop and electro-glitchy vibes on one solid track; something that so far, we find only FT can master. The track is available for stream and will be available next week for FREE download with the rest of the Moonflavours album in entirety. For now, warm up your subs because it’s about to get bumpy!

NEW MIX: Marcutio – ‘AlwaysWakingUp (March)’ [40-Min Mix - FREE Download]

I have been listening to fellow Michigander Marcutio’s Soundcloudfondly lately and I must say I am quite impressed with his latest “Always Waking Up” mix. I can describe the 41 minute jar of kushsauce as modern, exciting, unique and dirty yet classy at the same time. I could throw on this mix for occasions ranging from an old fashioned smoke sesh at the crib, to going hard at the gym, to getting weird.

Although several artists have been remixing/sampling Kendrick Lamar’s Swimming Pools, Marcutio’s hyphy interpretation of the popular song as the second facet of the mix is executed quite tastefully He continues with Ill Esha’s “Foreign Emotions“ and from there on out the mix stays pretty ill when its not being trippy. With a stack featuring Marcutio originals as well as snippets from artists featuring Modeselektor and closing with a Marcutio remix of Freddy Todd & Black Mic’s Dopesauce I must say I have mad respect for this mix. Plus, it is still available for free download!. If you like what you hear, I encourage you to check out Marcutio’s Honey EP available for listen or download on Bandcamp.

NEW TUNE: Freddy Todd – “Wave Therapy” (Unreleased)

Giving us a little taste of some new material, glitch wizard Freddy Todd has dropped a tune from his vaults entitled “Wave Therapy“. The track features bouncy and squishy synths coupled with a very real sounding drum rack and instrument samples. This tune is a much more tranquil Freddy Todd. The plucking samples add a very “jammy” feel to the whole track’s essence. We can picture ourselves happily soaking up some rays in the sand with this tune blasting through the speakers. We aren’t quite sure when or how “Wave Therapy” will be released, but we do know that we will be streaming it through Soundcloud and bumping it thoroughly. Freddy Todd is getting ready for a busy touring schedule while taking the time to get as much work done in the studio at the same time. NEW TUNE: GeoVybe – “Gyrodope Latte” (FREE Download)

There must be something in the water in East Lansing, Michigan. It seems that the city plays host to a slew of talented up-and-coming bass producers. One of our favorites, and part of the Curated Music family is GeoVybe. The young producer (and half of Ternidup) has been working non-stop on his productions and the results are showing in his latest tune entitled “Gyrodope Latte“. Featuring a gangster beat, GeoVybe combines the best elements of lazer-bass, glitch-hop, and trap, into this extra hard track. Following his Vybrational Geometry EP, also released for free download, this tune must be heard! We are super excited to bring you more tunes from the young producer as we watch his talents and name grow until GeoVybe is at the top. Cheers!

NEW TUNE: T.I. – “Top Back” (Freddy Todd Bootleg) [FREE Download]

Glitch crunk wizard Freddy Todd put out a fresh bootleg remix of T.I.’s “Top Back” for the world today. Freddy Todd is one of our absolute favorite producers and this bootleg adds to our case. Featuring the gangster track from T.I., “Top Back”, Freddy puts down the crunkest, grimey, additions turning the tune from a radio hit into a glitched out prolific bass tune. Freddy is showing the world that you can make gangster tunes and still be different than the rest. This track is best heard while rolling down Jefferson with a pair of 12″s in the trunk. We have ranked Freddy as the king of Glitch Hop and his recent mix for the special 75th episode Memekast proves why.
