NEW RELEASE: Marvel Years – ‘Nowhere But Up’ EP (5-Track FREE Download)

He’s only 19, but University of Vermont freshman Cory Wythe (aka Marvel Years) just produced an EP that’s sure to be an attention grabber for electro hip-hop and future funk fans. Nowhere But Up EP is Marvel Years second album and evidence that’s he’s the real deal. It won’t be hard for listeners to pick up on influences from RJD2, and PLM artists, but along with that Marvel Years brings in fresh sounds and innovative grooves. You’ll be sure to keep these 5 jams going on heavy rotation.

Marvel Years plans to have shows coming up in the next couple months that should be finalized soon. Don’t be surprised if you see this college freshmen throwin down everywhere from CO to NY in the near future. NEW TUNE: Donkong – “Turn It Up” (‘WTF IS MOLLY GRIT EP’) [FREE Download]

This tune dropped a bit ago and it may be the beginning to a new sub-genre revolution. Backed and presented by Mad Decent and their blog, tribal bass lord Donkong dropped his tune “Turn It Up” a.k.a. WTF IS MOLLY GRIT EP for free download through his Facebook page. Donkong is exploding on the bass electronic music circuit and is destined to be a very respected name in every producers playlist. As for molly grit, the words from the song posting explain it best:

“Molly Grit is a music TAG that mixes the molecular base of trap, moombahton, juke, dubstep , and tropical bass sounds. Based on slang terminology it can be the molecular core for anything. And that ‘s exactly what it is, sonic ecstasy.

The newest, most exciting form of bass that has been around for months; In fact; made by hundreds of producers all over the place, although their description falls flat in giving an accurate term. Do not confuse it with Zouk Bass, which mostly is a highly influenced version of Tarraxinha with bass elements. Both have common elements, but when you listen closely, you will hear big differences.”

NEW RELEASE: HeRobust – ‘Busted House’ EP (FREE Download)

HeRobust has been on the bass music radar for sometime now, but some of his most recent singe releases, “Turn Ape” and “Cosmo Def“, have proven that he has developed his own signature glitchy trap sound that sets his music aside from other progressive trap and bass music producers. HeRobust takes it to the next level with his new Busted House EP, an experimental merger of trapped up club sounds.

The EP’s opener, “Flossed N Found”, welcomes us with the “damn son, where’d ya find this” sample that has been a staple of trap since it was originally used by DJs for hip-hop mixtapes “back in the day”. Although the sample may typically foreshadow driving 808 percussion and heavy bass throughout the EP, don’t expect the same style and sounds as the singles he released preceding this EP. Both “Flossed N Found” and “Arnold Facepalmer” have a club banging steady 4×4 beat, something we didn’t see much in his last ep, OG Status, and with the tune “Arnold Facepalmer” coming in at 128 bpm it probably best exemplifies the Busted House name. “Girls Gone Wildebeest” features some of the sounds we know and love from Mr. HeRobust, making a statement with some ultra glitchy bass hits and all sorts of sounds & samples perfectly arranged into organized chaos on the top. “Assault N Pepa” starts and ends with a super dirty break beat, and has some aggressive bouncing bass sandwiched in the middle.

NEW TUNE: Crywolf & Ianborg – “Oceans” (FREE Download)

I think we may have uncovered the most beautifully produced bass track of the year right here with this fresh collaboration from Crywolf & Ianborg entitled “Oceans” which dropped yesterday on Le Castle Vania’s ‘Always Never Records‘ for FREE download. The tune features dazzling vocals over a perfectly mastered and leveled heavy bass beat. Extremely heavy on compression, this song side-chains our hearts and gives us overwhelmingly emotional vibes that make us want to dance our pains away. The piano in the tune adds the icing on the cake that takes the tune from a club track to an angelic ballad. You can tell both Crywolf and Ianborg put their all into this tune and we give them praise. Crywolf’s debut Ghosts EP will also be dropping on Always Never Records soon and we are most definitely geeked for that. Last spring, The M Machine dropped Metropolis Pt. I on their fans. The EP was the breakthrough that the swanky trio needed to reach the levels they are experiencing now. Well deserved, The M Machine have toured the world and gained support from basically the entire dance music scene over the past year.
