NEW RELEASE: Major Lazer – ‘Lazer Strikes Back’ Volumes 1-3 (FREE Download) [Pre-Order 'Free The Universe']

MajorLazParty starters Major Lazer has a new album coming out on April 16th entitled Free The Universe. Expected to be one of the largest electronic releases of the past few years (behind the upcoming Random Access Memories of course), Free The Universe has been highly anticipated from fans, critics, and fellow artists alike. Originally set and planned to be released by now, Diplo and team Major Lazer want to be sure that ‘FTU’ is perfected and marketed to the T. We expect to hear sounds old and new on the upcoming album as well as features from other large names in music.

Due to the delay(s), Major Lazer has decided to release a series of 3 mini EPs dubbed the Lazer Strikes Back series (Volume 1-3). Remixing Major Lazer originals “Jah No Partial” with Flux Pavilion, “Get Free“, and “Original Don“, the compilations showcases edits from artists like Flosstradamus, Baauer, Avicii, Jack Beats, Yellow Claw, and many others; plus Major Lazer remixes of Hot Chip’s “Look At Where We Are” and No Doubt’s “Settle Down”. The collection is available for FREE download and is just what we need to build the excitement for Free The Universe.  You can download the series from Major Lazer’s Soundcloud and you can pre-order Free The Universe NOW on iTunes.

Major Lazer released the following statement in regards to the album delay and the Laser Strikes Back series:

“The upcoming album, “FREE THE UNIVERSE,” has been been kidnapped by General Rubbish and we all must embark on an epic journey to upset his evil plan so we can free the universe as planned with the album.

Our fans are the most important part of what makes Major Lazer what it is. It is with that consideration that “FREE THE UNIVERSE” will not be released this month as previously scheduled. We never want to disappoint our supporters but circumstances out of our control have made us unable to keep the intended date. For anyone disappointed, we are truly apologetic and we promise that this hiccup has only made what we have planned for the album stronger. We tried extremely hard to keep the date but it was ultimately decided that rushing the album would have been unfair to you and everyone who worked so hard on it. An iTunes exclusive pre-order in the US will launch next Tuesday, 2/26 which will feature an instant grat download of “Watch Out for This (Bumaye).”

NEW MIX: ETC! ETC! – ‘Diplo and Friends’ Mix (FREE Download)

His weekly “Diplo and Friends” radio show on BBC Radio 1 is perhaps the best example. Featuring artists from all over the world spanning out across all genres, the radio show does an amazing job of showcasing the next hot artists and tunes. This past week, Diplo asked badman ETC! CLIPS AND PREVIEWS: Diplo, Sidney Samson, Nick Thayer, Getter & Datsik, Bare, & More

Grunge-clouds-stock2052For this week’s edition of Clips & Previews we are excited to hear some new sounds from artists all over the electronic music spectrum. Starting off with a smashing new preview of a Diplo and Swick collabo entitled “Keep It Gully” which will drop exclusively on Mad Decent tomorrow. Sidney Samson is getting ready to bring the huge sounds to the club with two enormous tunes previewed this past week. The first, a banging collaboration with Martin Garrix entitled “Torrent” which was personally selected by Tiesto to be the first Musical Freedom Records release of 2013 (dropping 2/19 on Beatport and elsewhere on 3/5). The second, a solo Sidney Samson production with the name “Move” previewed on Samson’s Soundcloud a few days ago. The other previews feature a heavy hitting clip from a Nick Thayer remix, a sneak peak of Getter x Datsik x The Frim x Snak The Ripper collaboration forthcoming on Firepower Records, and a trill preview of Bare’s latest trap experiment. NEW TUNE: Diplo & Flinch ft Kay – “No Problem” (Flinch Remix) [FREE Download]

5548484Flinch apparently got a magnificent bite from the trap bug that’s been attacking lately. It is evident that Flinch is an undercover trap-star with this remix of his own collaboration with Diplo, “No Problem” (from Diplo’s Express Yourself EP). Flinch takes his original booty moombah tune and gives it a gangster remodel. With vocals by Kay, this track is flossin and will be an A+ crowd pleaser. NEW MIX: gLAdiator Signs With AM Only & Releases “Vol. 02 | Ep. 001″ (52-Min Mixtape) [FREE Download]

Following a string of huge performances in 2012, the duo announced today that they have signed with the mighty bookings firm and powerhouse, AM Only. They will be joining a roster of prominent influential DJs and producers in the EDM scene. This should bring huge performances from gLAdiator in the near future.

In celebration, and to follow up with their mixtape series into the new year, gLAdiator released the first episode of the second volume of their hyphy mixtape series.
