Memorial Day weekend in Detroit marks perhaps the best time of the year to see our city shine. With Movement Electronic Music Festival playing host to an expected 100,000 festival goers, the nightlife scene in the city is set for one hell of a weekend. Parties will be raging until the very early hours of the morning in venues all across the city. Standing out as the obvious “must-see” event for the weekend, though, is Nightsneak and RBMA’s Dirtybird Players show, featuring back 2 back sets from Dirtybird front-men Claude Vonstroke vs. Justin Martin, as well as Worthy vs. Leroy Peppers, J. Phlip vs. Kill Frenzy, and Ardalan vs. Justin Jay. This is what we would consider as a “once in a lifetime” chance to catch some of the most fitting tunes of the weekend all under one roof. You can expect to dance, drink, and experience some true dirty Detroit vibes because all of the Players are ready to come out strong come this Saturday. The Dirtybird Players show is an official after party for Movement and will be hosted at the historic and beautiful Fillmore at 2115 Woodward. Tickets are still available here but this event is very likely going to sell out so don’t you sleep on this!

Wouldn’t it be something if an event the size of X Games came to our hometown of Detroit? Well, the dream may be more of a reality now that Detroit is one of four finalists to be the next host for the Summer X Games in 2014, 15′, and 16′ thanks to Kevin Krease & Garret Koehler who took their passion to the internet and gathered a huge following. There couldn’t be a city who needs an event like this more than Detroit and to see our bid go this far is great. It is time now, to step up to the plate and begin supporting the bid like you couldn’t have thought of. Up against Chicago, Charlotte, and Austin, we have a great chance to show the World that not only is our urban playground the perfect venue for the X Games but our community is the perfect demographic for this event. With the support of seemingly every Detroit representative and business owner, the team has been able to build credit for Detroit and will hopefully soon call this city the proud home of the Summer X Games!
Today, the XGamesDetroit crew released this stunning official video documenting a taste of our urban landscape meshed with insane extreme sports. We hope you find this as amazing as we do and we also hope you can join the cause!

The brand new music festival will feature headliners Girl Talk & Bone Thugs-N-Harmony alongside a slew of amazing support including Trick Trick, Royce Da 5’9, Freddy Todd, and many others. The whole festival is designed as a non-profit philanthropic event with proceeds benefiting the renovation of the Historic Fort Wayne property. The world of glitch hop better hold tight to it’s seat because Freddy Todd is about to drop a heater on us. Next week, on April 25th, Freddy will drop the latest addition to his already flexing catalog through the form of a free album entitled Moonflavours. Described as his “more chill release”, Freddy gives us a glimpse of what we can expect with the first single to surface from the release dubbed “RAW’D” (Till I Die) featuring San Diego’s Note. Freddy puts the “hop” back in “glitch-hop” with this one meshing together hip-hop and electro-glitchy vibes on one solid track; something that so far, we find only FT can master. The track is available for stream and will be available next week for FREE download with the rest of the Moonflavours album in entirety. For now, warm up your subs because it’s about to get bumpy!

There are very few emerging producers that have me as excited as Late Night Radio. December marked the release Concrete Collage, and while most artists take a little breather from posting new material on soundcloud after an EP release, LNR has been dishing out the music full force. The past few months since Concrete Collage he’s dropped a mix, two collaborations with Robotic Pirate Monkey, and tons of singles.
The amount of music dropped still isn’t as impressive as the uniqueness of each song and the quality of production, this holds true for his latest single, Mood Swings. This epic track captures Late Night Radio’s signature sound with a blend of a groovin’ hip hop beat, a massive synth driving the song, and soulful samples run through some LNR magic making them both eerie and beautiful. Mood Swings is the perfect track to put on while kickin it with the homies, or getting your rage face on in preparation for festival season.
Late Night Radio has been keeping busy with shows in the Denver area, opening for big names like GRiZ and Michal Menert. He’s also the line up for this summer’s highly anticipated 710 Cup. All of his music is available for free on his soundcloud. Make sure to follow him, because he’s dropping awesome new tunes all the time.

There are so many things to love about Colorado: the mountains, the music, the sunshine, (just to name a few). Put all three of those things together and what do you get? Snowball Music Festival! With only a few short days until Snowball 2013 we prepare for what is sure to be an outstanding three days of music amongst the beauty of the rocky mountains!
This year marks the 3rd Annual Snowball Music Festival. With its first kick off in 2011, Snowball Music Festival was held in Vail Valley Colorado and brought in huge headliners (Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, The Flaming Lips, Lotus) and a slew of other amazing talent that made the festival a success. Creating a massive following, Snowball returned in 2012 with another face melting lineup (Rusko, Major Lazer, Bassnectar, Mimosa) that left the crowds begging for more.
Back by popular demand is Snowball Music Festival 2013! This years Snowball will be held March 8-10th in a new location, Winter Park, Co. Although the lay of the land may be different, the Snowball experience will be just as accommodating as previous years. The grounds will include three stages: the Main Stage, The Groove Tent, and The Ballroom. Friday and Saturday music will go until 2am and Sunday until 1am. On site there will be a heat lounge and bar, silent disco, artist vendors & merch, big air ramp and food trucks. And to keep your travels safe, there will be a shuttle service going in and out of the festival grounds.
But lets talk about what really important… this year’s lineup! With so much amazing talent on the bill, Snowball 2013 is looking like it will be the best yet! A few headliners include: Pretty Lights, STS9, Big Gigantic, Kendrick Lamer, Porter Robinson, Grizmatik, Flying Lotus and SO MUCH MORE! To keep you kids on your toes and get you even more excited for the weekend ahead, we took some time to catch up with some of the artists on this year’s lineup, K Theory and Robotic Pirate Monkey, to see what they’ve got in store for us!
K Theory, based out of San Francisco, consists of two musical maestros constructing melodic electronic productions with shattering bass lines, and a broken beat technique that has stamped their original sound. K Theory has been highly acclaimed through Beatport, Hype Machine, ThisSongIsSick, and Earmilk. It is impossible to ignore this duo as their momentum heaves them into the music community spotlight. K Theory has been spending endless time in the studio preparing for the busy months ahead. “We will be playing 23 shows before June”. Making their way to Snowball for the first time this year, K Theory plans to roll through in style, “We have a Nintendo 3DS with Zelda in it, a giant bag of gummy bears and 16 bottles of Martinellis.” Dylan of K Theory explains what is in the essential K Theory camping pack. “Oh and an inhaler of Albuterol and Benedryl”. Not only will they be enjoying their RV lifestyle but also soaking up the culture surrounding the festival scene “you see the unique crowds you who draw different angles” says Dylan, “Snowball brings in all kinds of people like indie, rocks bands and rappers. It’s a multi-genre festival” With such a unique musical collaboration we are sure to be wowed by what they have in store, “We may be bringing a special guest with us. I cant say who it is”. So whats next for K THEORY? “We are taking over the world.” Be sure you catch K Theory at Snowball this Sunday in the Groove Tent from 1:15pm – 2:15pm.
Listen to Curated Music – Snowball 2013 Q&A with K Theory: Another artist not to be missed at this years Snowball is home-turf producers Robotic Pirate Monkey. The group consists of Andrew Hathaway, Matt Berryhill, and Matt Flesher. Their unique fusion of ruthless electronic beats and manipulating samples has given this trio a highly reputable name. Their music has placed RPM in a spotlight among some of the greats in the Colorado music scene, and we are sure to be surprised by what they have in store for us this weekend, “We have committed a new way of making music”, Matt explains, “We are really excited to come out with new stuff, but we are anxious because it is more complex, so more can go wrong when we play it.” Spending most of their days in the studios, RPM is ready to come out this Snowball and bring the heat, “We have totally redesigned the new set, and our new EP will also be released for download on Saturday, so it’s a big weekend for us.” How does RPM plan on staying warm for the weekend? “Lots of beer”. So what’s next for RPM? “First national tour”, producing a hip-hop mixtape, and creating a bunch of RPM products and apparel. Make sure you check out Robotic Pirate Monkey this Friday in the Groove Tent from 3:15- 4:15pm.
