190459_10151595302909929_1830571278_nAbout 15 minutes ago, Pete Tong took to his Facebook page to announce that Daft Punk will be joining him on the airwaves for this Friday’s edition of his BBC Radio One show. We are not quite clear on the details of the show but we do know that if it is anything like their last BBC visit in 97′ where they recorded their infamous essential mix, we will be in store for a treat. We can hopefully expect to hear some exclusive listens of their upcoming album Random Access Memories and for that we will be sure to stay tuned to our radios come this Friday night at 9 pm.

NEW TUNE: K Theory – “No God For Men Like Us” (OUT NOW)

artworks-000047313668-pehklo-t500x500The K Theory camp is back with a brand new track and it is fucking epic. Backed by the homies at Simplify Recordings, the new tune entitled “No God For Men Like Us” is just as intense sounding as the title itself. Beginning with a darkened intro and building into terrifically manipulated synthesizers that scream mid-tempo electro, the song is simply begging you to dance. The vocals and samples are contorted in such a manner that resembles the great Daft Punk all while keeping the signature K-Theory intensity. Could it be that K Theory praises the Daft Punk Gods? We think so! Be sure to add this tune to your Summer playlist and keep K Theory on your radar because they are about to blow up! Cheers!

FESTY NEWS: What Exactly Will Ultra Music Festival Announce Tomorrow? (Daft Punk Rumors, Potential New Venue)

302754_10151466321392739_1249863729_nLike we expected, Ultra Music Festival wouldn’t be able to go the Summer without making yet another splash in what is already a super successful year for the massive festival brand. Yesterday, the Ultra Music Festival Facebook page posted a picture of a countdown clock accompanied by only the image above reading “Tick Tock Tick Tock…” and the text “Thursday May 2 // 1pm EST”. Keeping their plans wrapped as tight as Fort Knox, we are able to speculate on a few different possible announcements.

First & least exciting of our theories, there is a chance that Ultra Music Festival will be announcing a date for 2014 ticket sales. Last year, we witnessed UMF 2013 begin campaigning as early as May with street teamers passing out “teaser” flyers. We wouldn’t be surprised if they ignore the 11 months in between their event and begin promoting like it is happening next week.

Another outcome could be a possible venue change. With problems at Bayfront Park between the city, citizens, committees  and so on, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to hear that Ultra Music Festival 2014 will play host to a new home. In either case, we think you can count on UMF keeping the festival in Miami.

NOW, the biggest stretch out of all of our theories… Daft Punk. With 2013 presenting one of the largest electronic lineups ever of any music festival, UMF 2014 has to pull out some big explosions to top the following years. Not only would this be the perfect time for Daft Punk to announce the performance, but this would make a ton of sense seeing as Daft Punk’s album, Random Access Memories, will drop on May 21st. Just a tad bit too late for any rumored 2013 appearance, but perfect for an early Spring 2014 headline takeover. Last month, Ultra Music Festival tweeted a slight hint (SEE BELOW) at hosting Daft Punk at the 2014 fest, but then again, so has basically every other festival under the sun.

At least we don’t have to wait too long to find out what is behind these teaser posts from America’s largest dance music festival. Stay tuned to Ultra Music Festival’s social media pages tomorrow, Thursday, May 2nd, at 1pm EST and keep posted to Curated Music for all of your festival news!

FESTY NEWS: Ultra Music Festival 2013 Approved By City For Second Weekend

therealll
If you haven’t heard, Ultra Music Festival recently found themselves caught up in some tricky politics as The City of Miami attempted to put a halt to the second weekend of UMF 2013. This is the first year that UMF has expanded to a double weekend festival and if Ultra’s track record stays to par, the festival will benefit the City tremendously. Ultimately, the City of Miami decided in favor of the second weekend of Ultra Music Festival 2013 and the party will go on as planned. Well, maybe a bit larger than planned. Below we quote the UMF Facebook post regarding the whole matter:

“Yes, it’s all systems go and we are moving full steam ahead!!! ULTRA Music Festival will make history in 2013 as the world’s first ever ELECTRONIC music festival to take place over two weekends on March 15-17 and March 22-24 in celebration of our 15 Year Anniversary.

We appreciate the incredible support of the city of Miami Commission, Mayor, Bayfront Park Management Trust, and Fire and Police Departments, as together we have implemented a logistical plan that addresses everyone’s concerns, including those of local residents and businesses, allowing us to move forward and focus on producing the first rate, world class event ULTRA has become.

We’re extremely excited about the double-weekend celebration that will take place at the world’s most beautiful event location, Bayfront Park & Biscayne Blvd, in the heart of the Magic City, Downtown Miami.

As we enter our 15th year, and approach a complete SELL OUT of all 330,000 available tickets, those of you lucky enough to attend can expect ULTRA’s strongest and most diverse lineup to date, with an unparalleled level of production never before seen at a festival of this magnitude. As has become our signature, ticket holders can expect a wide array of surprises, including the possibility of unannounced mega artist appearances!

ULTRA Music Festival is proud to be the World’s Premier Electronic Music Festival, and we would like to thank all of the artists, managers, agents and most importantly, THE FANS, who have contributed to making ULTRA a focal point of the strongest musical and cultural movement on earth. ULTRA 15… HERE WE GO!!!”

All of this news is very exciting, especially since this may actually be the summer that Daft Punk comes out of hiding. For now, we can all be the kid before Christmas while we await more news from the UMF camp. You can purchase your Ultra Music Festival 2013 tickets now from the UMF website.
