NEW RELEASE: Marvel Years – ‘Nowhere But Up’ EP (5-Track FREE Download)

artworks-000045049007-dloo90-t500x500He’s only 19, but University of Vermont freshman Cory Wythe (aka Marvel Years) just produced an EP that’s sure to be an attention grabber for electro hip-hop and future funk fans.  Nowhere But Up EP is Marvel Years second album and evidence that’s he’s the real deal.  It won’t be hard for listeners to pick up on influences from RJD2, and PLM artists, but along with that Marvel Years brings in fresh sounds and innovative grooves.  You’ll be sure to keep these 5 jams going on heavy rotation.

Marvel Years plans to have shows coming up in the next couple months that should be finalized soon.  Don’t be surprised if you see this college freshmen throwin down everywhere from CO to NY in the near future.  Nowhere But Up is available for FREE download on the Gravitas Recordings‘ Bandcamp page, and can be streamed for free on Marvel Years’ Soundcloud, along with his other music.  Watch out for this kid!

NEW RELEASE: D.V.S. – ‘Hit The Clouds Running’ EP (FREE Download)

3185178013-1There was much to be excited about when Wakarusa festival released Brooklyn producer D.V.S.’s new collab track “Sleepwalker” yesterday. The song features dreamy vocals from Cherub and eerie violin from Govinda. The cloudy feeling of the melody has inspired me to begin formulating my “Hazy Summer” playlist.

Speaking of clouds, Sleepwalker is the opening track of D.V.S.’s full album Hit the Clouds Running EP released today. The entire album seems more uplifted in spirits than some of D.V.S.’s earlier, harder tracks. Up-beat dance tempos and Ratatat sounding guitars bring sparkling images to the mind. I can especially appreciate the track Heartmaps for its modern disco feel. Trapsody in Blue is a trip and it is exactly 4:20 long – go figure. NEW RELEASE: Emancipator ‘Dusk to Dawn’ (LoCi Records) [10-Track Album Out Now]

artworks-000037857720-tqehpm-t500x500It is clear that Emancipator‘s heart and soul went into producing his newest and fourth full length album Dusk to Dawn which dropped today on his newly formed LoCi Records. The album features a revamped Emancipator sound, a bit more electric, much more worldly, and much more mature. We have been huge Emancipator fans since we first heard his tunes a few years ago. Since then we have listened to the Emancipator sound develop and morph into the smoothest combinations of electro, instrumentals  percussion, and all different elements and styles of production.

It is a pleasure to listen to Emancipator and it is something we here at Curated Music partake in often. The album showcases 10 brand new beautiful, original studio tracks and includes collaborations and features from many artists like D.V.S. contributing guitar, and Dominic Lalli of Big Gigantic contributing saxophone to tracks. Of course, the infamous strings of Ilya Goldberg can be heard on quite a few of the tracks. We are falling in love with Emancipator all over again.

In the midst of his huge Winter Tour with support from Tor, Mux Mool, Eliot Lipp, and others, the Portland based producer has truly put the album title ‘Dusk to Dawn’ to real meaning, staying up through the night, show after show, with violinist and right hand man Ilya Goldberg to perfect the album and add the finishing touches.
