It is always a spectacle to watch a festival grow from the bottom up. In this case, the second annual Summer Set Music & Camping Festival set for August 9th-11th in Somerset, Wisconsin, is the prime example. Kicking off their inaugural event last year with a bang, Summer Set 2013 plans to blow any expectations out of the water. Today, the beautiful festival announced their killer 2013 lineup led by headliners Passion Pit, Girl Talk, STS9, and Summer Set veterans Big Gigantic. If the prime landscape, three days of camping and music, and partying with 44,999 fellow ragers wasn’t enough, this stacked & diverse lineup is sure to get you clicking the ticket links. So go ahead, read through the lineup, and grab your tickets for Summer Set Music & Camping Festival 2013! We hope to see you there!
There was much to be excited about when Wakarusa festival released Brooklyn producer D.V.S.’s new collab track “Sleepwalker” yesterday. The song features dreamy vocals from Cherub and eerie violin from Govinda. The cloudy feeling of the melody has inspired me to begin formulating my “Hazy Summer” playlist.
Speaking of clouds, Sleepwalker is the opening track of D.V.S.’s full album Hit the Clouds Running EP released today. The entire album seems more uplifted in spirits than some of D.V.S.’s earlier, harder tracks. Up-beat dance tempos and Ratatat sounding guitars bring sparkling images to the mind. I can especially appreciate the track Heartmaps for its modern disco feel. Trapsody in Blue is a trip and it is exactly 4:20 long – go figure. Hit the Clouds Running is available now for listen or name your own price download from bandcamp. Give it a listen, it is sure to make you feel all tingly inside.

Last August we had the honor of sitting down with prolific producer and turntable wizard RJD2 for the seventh edition of Curated Conversations. We discussed everything from touring at festivals to digging for records. RJD2 has been a household name in the beat and hip-hop communities since the early 2000′s and has experienced tremendous success since then. Where others who have followed in his footsteps have failed to capitalize on what’s in front of them, RJ has always done different. RJD2′s music speaks to generations of music lovers and he will forever be held in a spotlight as the producer that pushed boundaries and paved the way for many to follow. In the world of RJD2, he has just begun to show the world what he is all about. We are excited to see what is in the future for RJD2 and we are excited to present our interview with the brilliant producer. RJD2 is coming to our hometown of Detroit this Saturday, Feb. 12th at The Majestic Theater with our good friend SuperVision. You can get tickets through Detroit Dubstep here. Check out the interview and get down to some RJD2!

Big Gigantic‘s popularity has sky rocketed in the last couple years. With a few albums and tours under their belt, Big G has perfected their performances and live sound. Featuring one of the largest light rigs touring in dance music, Big Gigantic brings the heat for each performance, so there’s no doubting that for New Year’s Eve, Big Gigantic partners Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken turned up the energy by tenfold! Boasting a sold out performance in Chicago, Big Gigantic captured the night and has now released the high energy, passionate video for all of us to get a little taste of what Big Gigantic can do on stage. Big G starts their National Winter Tour on the 29th and will be on the road (with Two Fresh, Kill Paris, and Manic Focus) up to Snowball and Buku Music Festivals where we anticipate their schedule to focus on a number of larger festivals! Enjoy the amazing video, we love this editing!

Each May, our excitement builds with plans of traveling deep into the abyss of the Appalachians to explore Mulberry Mountain and it’s landmark, prolific, and now ‘decade-old’ Wakarusa Music Festival. Hosted by the great minds of Pipeline Productions, Wakarusa is more than just your average run-of-the-mill Summer camping festival, Waka offers much more.
With careful precision and detailed selection, the lineup for Wakarusa has grown to be one of the most original, unique, and simply put ‘large’ festival lineups in all of the US. For 2013, they have busted the locks on all the cages and set the beasts free. Boasting headliners Widespread Panic, Dispatch, STS9, The Black Crowes, Amon Tobin, Snoop Lion, and Umphrey’s McGee the eclectic talent spreads to all genres and will make any fan of festival music aroused. Perhaps, that is just the icing on the cake though.
One of our favorite attributes of Wakarusa is the fact that they have a keen sense for booking the next big up-and-coming performers. From launching the festival career of Pretty Lights, to providing a touring stop for artists buzzing in the underground scenes of each genre, Wakarusa is the ideal event to expand your musical tastes and knowledge. This Summer will follow suite with potential future headliners like GRiZ, HeRobust, RL Grime, Wick-it the Instigator, Baauer, Cherub, The Werks, and Zoogma commanding a chunk of the vibrant lineup.
On top of all of this, the environment at Wakarusa cannot be duplicated. Tucked away on top of the gorgeous Mulberry Mountain in the Appalachian hills of Arkansas, there is always time to stop, sit, and admire nature (or take a swim in the river). If you add it up, you are left with no choice: buy your tickets now, or you will be left out! Seriously, you don’t want to regret missing the beast that has grown to be Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival 2013. Well, now we are brought back to the fact that it is only mid-January. The anticipation has set in. We are wired for Waka.
We will continue to update you on Wakarusa 2013 announcements and news. You can also find the information onWaka’s website (www.wakarusa.com). You can purchase your tickets to Wakarusa now. Check out the Wakarusa Official 2013 Preview Video below as well as the full lineup.

As heard from Excision‘s infamous Shambhala Music Festival set Mark Instinct releases his epic tune “Bad Seed” to the world for FREE download! Mark Instinct, the bass lord of Canada, really knows how to throw down hard. Apparently, he’s also a fan of getting stoned (as are we). This banger is bound to grab some major attention in the bass scene with its epic drops, insane drum breaks, and amazing sample. Mark Instinct is one of our favorite dubstep producers and we hope to hear much more from him this year! Check out the track, spread it around, give it a download, and enjoy!!!

Wakarusa has released their final installment of their 2013 lineup! This third release may be the biggest yet. With STS9, The Black Crowes, and Snoop Lion atop the list, the festival proves to stay eclectic and original. We are quite positive you will not find a lineup like this anywhere else in the world. Wakarusa 2013 is going to be absolutely huge. From GRiZ to Gogol Bordello, this is by far the biggest lineup that Waka has ever repped. We cannot wait to be back up on Mulberry Mountain!
