Party starters Major Lazer has a new album coming out on April 16th entitled Free The Universe. Expected to be one of the largest electronic releases of the past few years (behind the upcoming Random Access Memories of course), Free The Universe has been highly anticipated from fans, critics, and fellow artists alike. Originally set and planned to be released by now, Diplo and team Major Lazer want to be sure that ‘FTU’ is perfected and marketed to the T. We expect to hear sounds old and new on the upcoming album as well as features from other large names in music.
Major Lazer released the following statement in regards to the album delay and the Laser Strikes Back series:
“The upcoming album, “FREE THE UNIVERSE,” has been been kidnapped by General Rubbish and we all must embark on an epic journey to upset his evil plan so we can free the universe as planned with the album.
Our fans are the most important part of what makes Major Lazer what it is. It is with that consideration that “FREE THE UNIVERSE” will not be released this month as previously scheduled. We never want to disappoint our supporters but circumstances out of our control have made us unable to keep the intended date. For anyone disappointed, we are truly apologetic and we promise that this hiccup has only made what we have planned for the album stronger. We tried extremely hard to keep the date but it was ultimately decided that rushing the album would have been unfair to you and everyone who worked so hard on it. An iTunes exclusive pre-order in the US will launch next Tuesday, 2/26 which will feature an instant grat download of “Watch Out for This (Bumaye).”
Last spring, The M Machine dropped Metropolis Pt. I on their fans. The EP was the breakthrough that the swanky trio needed to reach the levels they are experiencing now. Well deserved, The M Machine have toured the world and gained support from basically the entire dance music scene over the past year. Their sounds and live performances have increased in quality by tenfold yet they are just at the very beginning of the global dance music takeover it seems they have planned. It is now February of 2013 and The M Machine have unloaded Metropolis Pt. IIfor the world to hear and dance to. The six track EP features the most melodic and well composed tracks that we have heard from an “edm” group in quite some time. The San Francisco based producer threesome take their listeners on a epic voyage of sound and emotion. Producing music that reminds us of old school classical ballads or epic movie scores, The M Machine are on some high energy levels. It is very evident that The M Machine spent the time to polish and perfect their latest release. You can purchase the EP from any major outlet or have a listen on their Soundcloud page. Either way, make sure you have your volume as loud as it gets. Cheers!
When our favorite Bay Area trill-star Mimosa told us he was going to bring something different and new to the trap game self described as “future trill music” we weren’t quite sure what he meant. We watched his live sets throughout the summer, we listened to his single “SWRV“, and we were already all over his “Future Trill Mixtape“. We were convinced; Tigran Mimosa is the most unique and original bass producer in the game today and he had some tricks up his sleeve. Looking back, we realize that Mimosa saw this modern trap movement coming the whole time. I mean, he was making trap beats while most of us were struggling to pass our first high school exams. That is what Mimosa meant when he says “future trill music”. It is not what you can expect, it does not fall into one genre, and it’s as advanced as electronic bass productions get. With all the anticipation, Mimosa finally brings the world Future Trill Vol. 1, a 21-track conceptual album that is available for FREE download from Mimosa.fm. The album features tunes that remind us of why we fell in love with the gangster producer years ago. From the heaviest and grime filled bass lines to the smoothest and sexiest synths and sounds, Mimosa knows how to manipulate a track to excrete the listener’s full emotions. We are very stoked on this release and cannot wait to catch Mimosa doing his thing all Summer. Be sure to grab your download and bump it loud!!
Baauer is on top of the trap world right now. With his huge release with Just Blaze last night, “Higher“, he follows it up with a powerful minimix for Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 Show. The 5-minute mix packs a gangster punch and really gets us excited to see him live on tour with Just Blaze and Two Fresh this Winter. There is no doubting that Baauer sets the trill standard. Enjoy this mini-mix!!

Each May, our excitement builds with plans of traveling deep into the abyss of the Appalachians to explore Mulberry Mountain and it’s landmark, prolific, and now ‘decade-old’ Wakarusa Music Festival. Hosted by the great minds of Pipeline Productions, Wakarusa is more than just your average run-of-the-mill Summer camping festival, Waka offers much more.
With careful precision and detailed selection, the lineup for Wakarusa has grown to be one of the most original, unique, and simply put ‘large’ festival lineups in all of the US. For 2013, they have busted the locks on all the cages and set the beasts free. Boasting headliners Widespread Panic, Dispatch, STS9, The Black Crowes, Amon Tobin, Snoop Lion, and Umphrey’s McGee the eclectic talent spreads to all genres and will make any fan of festival music aroused. Perhaps, that is just the icing on the cake though.
One of our favorite attributes of Wakarusa is the fact that they have a keen sense for booking the next big up-and-coming performers. From launching the festival career of Pretty Lights, to providing a touring stop for artists buzzing in the underground scenes of each genre, Wakarusa is the ideal event to expand your musical tastes and knowledge. This Summer will follow suite with potential future headliners like GRiZ, HeRobust, RL Grime, Wick-it the Instigator, Baauer, Cherub, The Werks, and Zoogma commanding a chunk of the vibrant lineup.
On top of all of this, the environment at Wakarusa cannot be duplicated. Tucked away on top of the gorgeous Mulberry Mountain in the Appalachian hills of Arkansas, there is always time to stop, sit, and admire nature (or take a swim in the river). If you add it up, you are left with no choice: buy your tickets now, or you will be left out! Seriously, you don’t want to regret missing the beast that has grown to be Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival 2013. Well, now we are brought back to the fact that it is only mid-January. The anticipation has set in. We are wired for Waka.
We will continue to update you on Wakarusa 2013 announcements and news. You can also find the information onWaka’s website (www.wakarusa.com). You can purchase your tickets to Wakarusa now. Check out the Wakarusa Official 2013 Preview Video below as well as the full lineup.

Lat fall, when school was back in session, Fool’s Gold front-man A-Trak had the brilliant idea to organize a National House Party Tour, Equipped with a film crew from Vice’s Noisey squad and accompanied by label-mates Flosstradamus & Donnis, the gang set off on a five stop all house party (and one barn) tour. The shenanigans were documented by the Noisey team and released for all of the world to peak into the world of A-Trak and the Fool’s Gold clan on the road wrecking huge house parties.
