NEW TUNE: Datsik – “Machete” (Ft. Snak the Ripper & Young Sin) ['Cold Blooded' EP out 1/22]

First kicking off the preview of the album with his tune “Vindicate” that was made with fellow dubstep champion Excision, Datsik now surprises us with another listen from the album on this huge tune entitled “Machete”. A huge banger with some great rap verses over it, “Machete” really reminds us of older Datsik, and we LOVE that. Cold Blooded EP is available for pre-order. We are excited to hear this huge EP from Datsik but for now, “Machete” will have to hold us over. Cheers!

NEW MIX: Dave Nada Takeover on ‘The Dillon Francis Radio Show’ (1-Hour Mix)

Last night, Dillon Francis invited the founder of moombahton and half of party animal duo Nadastrom, Dave Nada to takeover the decks on The Dillon Francis Radio Show to bring some fresh heat. Cooking up a mix full of eclectic dance beats, Nada takes us on an hour long ride through a jungle of different sounds and genres. NEW TUNE: Underworld – “Rez” (Bassnectar Remix)

artworks-000038377302-57jd9d-t500x500Bassnectar premiered this heavy duty remix of the UK dance music power house Underworld’s track “Rez” in Nashville at his Bassnectar 360 event on New Year’s Eve during the ball drop. Live clips of the remix have been floating around the internet along with videos of the epic show since the first, and now Bassnectar has decided to let us hear the full track and will also drop it for digital download plus vinyl for all of his fans. Coming out officially on Feb. 12th, we are keeping our fingers crossed that this is just one of many tunes to be dropped from the Bassnectar camp early this year. OG Status is back with a big one. This remix of Juicy J’s “Bands A Make Her Dance” puts the emphasis in dance with the addition of some laser sounds and  ”retwerked” drum patterns. OG Status is taking the West Coast scene by storm lately and has huge plans for touring together for special shows on dates across the country in 2013. We also hope to see many more releases from these trill trues. The remix, hosted by RealTrap.com, is perhaps one of those cases where the remix beats the original. We will be bumping OG Status!

FESTY NEWS: UPDATE – CounterPoint Music Festival Staying In Atlanta

1336488169-counterpointEarlier this week we reported on an article that originated from the Huson Valley’s Daily Freeman Newspaper and quickly caught wind around the edm festival blogosphere. The article reported the acquisition of the proper approval from the Town Board of Saugerties, NY that would allow for a music festival to be held this July on the same land that once held Woodstock ’94. The article goes on to reference that the MCP Presents festival, CounterPoint Music Festival, which launched its first year last Summer in Atlanta, is rumored to be the festival in play, saying the Town Board granted unanimous “approval for the considerably smaller CounterPoint Music and Arts Festival to be held July 11-13 at the Winston Farm”. The article was published on January 11th by the Daily Freeman. Ultimately, this can all be chalked up to one big rumor.

First of all, we would like to apologize to our followers and fellow bloggers for jumping the gun on reporting from a shotty source. Although, we are still unclear about the exact details of the Town Board meeting in Saugerties, we are sure of one thing: CounterPoint Music Festival will be STAYING in Atlanta. This morning we received an email from CounterPoint Music Festival’s press relations team, Caren West PR, that cleared up the most important part of this rumor: Atlanta is the home of CounterPoint and CounterPoint is NOT moving to New York. The other topic in the issue surrounding MCP Presents’ involvement with the addition of another upstate New York festival are still not clear and will not be considered official until news is reported from MCP themselves. CounterPoint 2013 will return to Atlanta later in the Summer and will be a festival that YOU cannot miss! Stay tuned to CounterPoint’s Facebook page for daily updates!

FESTY NEWS: Ultra Music Festival 2013 Approved By City For Second Weekend

If you haven’t heard, Ultra Music Festival recently found themselves caught up in some tricky politics as The City of Miami attempted to put a halt to the second weekend of UMF 2013. This is the first year that UMF has expanded to a double weekend festival and if Ultra’s track record stays to par, the festival will benefit the City tremendously. Ultimately, the City of Miami decided in favor of the second weekend of Ultra Music Festival 2013 and the party will go on as planned. Well, maybe a bit larger than planned. Below we quote the UMF Facebook post regarding the whole matter:

“Yes, it’s all systems go and we are moving full steam ahead!!! ULTRA Music Festival will make history in 2013 as the world’s first ever ELECTRONIC music festival to take place over two weekends on March 15-17 and March 22-24 in celebration of our 15 Year Anniversary.

We appreciate the incredible support of the city of Miami Commission, Mayor, Bayfront Park Management Trust, and Fire and Police Departments, as together we have implemented a logistical plan that addresses everyone’s concerns, including those of local residents and businesses, allowing us to move forward and focus on producing the first rate, world class event ULTRA has become.

We’re extremely excited about the double-weekend celebration that will take place at the world’s most beautiful event location, Bayfront Park & Biscayne Blvd, in the heart of the Magic City, Downtown Miami.
